Courtney Horejda

Teacher in Training

Courtney Horejda began highland dancing at the age of 3. She attended her first competition at the age of 4, and immediately fell in love with competitive highland dance.

Courtney enjoys a successful competitive dance career under the instruction of Annette Summerfield as part of the Summerfield School of Highland Dance. She has represented Saskatchewan at the ScotDance Canada Championship Series a total of six times - twice as provincial champion for her age group. In 2019, Courtney received first place in the Tribute to J.L. McKenzie event at the SDTA Scholarship conference in Seattle WA, and this achievement is one she is most proud of.

Courtney also enjoys choreography and performance, and has had many incredible opportunities to showcase highland dance in Saskatchewan and beyond. Courtney's initial inspiration to become a highland dancer came from watching her older cousin Eilidh Wist dance, and Courtney has also benefited from the guidance and wisdom of her aunt, Wendy Wilson, in her highland dance journey.

Courtney is very excited to embark on a new aspect of highland dance through teaching highland dance to the next generation of young dancers at the Summerfield School of Highland Dance.
